OFFICE MANAGER’S INTEGRITY AND ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE OF SELECTED OIL AND GAS INDUSTRIES IN RIVERS

Abstract

This work examined Office Manager’s Integrity and Organizational Performance of selected Oil and Gas Industries in Rivers State. Three objectives, three research questions and three hypotheses guided the study. The study was anchored Ethical Leadership Theory. The study adopted the explanatory cross-sectional survey research design. A sample size of 225 was drawn from a population of 450 staff of 20 Oil and Gas Industries in Rivers State. The reliability of the instrument was ascertained using Cronbach alpha. After validation by the dissertation supervisor, 225 copies of structured questionnaire were administered while 157 copies were retrieved. Mean and standard deviation were used for the univariate analysis, Spearman Rank Order Correlation was used for the bivariate analysis while Partial Correlation was used for the multivariate analysis. The following findings were made that there is a significant positive relationship between trustworthiness and quality/performance excellence; there is a significant positive relationship between accountability and strategic goals achievement; there is a significant positive correlation between transparency and employee engagement. The study concluded that office managers’ integrity serves as a liaison between various departments and external parties that enhances organizational performance of Oil and Gas Industries in Rivers State. The study recommended that amongst others that Oil and Gas Industries should be reliable, dependable, and deserving of trustand should involves being answerable to someone for the fulfillment of specific tasks, duties, or functions.
