Abstract

The study examined the relationship between prompt digital response and information manager effectiveness in Oil and Gas companies in Rivers State. The study adopted a cross-sectional explanatory survey research design. The target population of the study consisted of 363 information managers of 121 Oil and Gas Companies operating in Rivers State, Nigeria. The entire population of 363 information managers was used for this study without sampling. Thus, the study adopted a census sampling technique. By selecting three (3) Information Managers from each of the 121 Oil and Gas Companies, the study had 363 respondents. For the study, both primary and secondary sources of data collection were employed. Structured questionnaire was used to elicit response from the research pigments. The study adopted the face and content validity with the least reliability coefficient of the instrument (0.731) which was ascertained using Cronbach alpha. In line with the number of respondents, a total of three hundred and sixty-three (363) copies of the questionnaire were administered with the help of two research assistants. The researchers were able to retrieve Three Hundred and Forty-Two (342) copies. Simple percentage was used for the demographic analysis; Mean and Standard Deviation were used for the Univariate analysis while the Bivariate analysis was done using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient with the aid of SPSS Version 26.0. Thus, the Multivariate analysis was done through Partial Correlation. The study’s findings revealed that prompt digital response enhances information manager effectiveness in terms of Informational Effectiveness, Records management and Effective Coordination in Oil and Gas Companies in Rivers State. The study also concluded that by following Netiquette guidelines, employees such as Information Managers can avoid misunderstandings, conflicts, and breaches of confidentiality in their digital interactions. The study recommended amongst others that management of Oil and Gas Companies should implement mechanisms to monitor adherence to Netiquette guidelines and address any violations promptly.
