Abstract

This studyfocused on cigarette smoking and health of youths in Biase Local Government Area of Cross River Stale, Nigeria. To achieve the objectives of this study. two specific objectives were
formulated thus: to identify the effect of cigarette smoking on youth mental disorder and to find out how cigarette smoking cause lung cancer among youths in Biase Local Government Area. The survey research design was adopted as the design for this study. Simple random sampling technique was used to sample respondents for the study. Findings of the analysis revealed that there exists significant relationship between the dependent and independent variables for this study. Based on the findings of this study, it was recommended amongst others that: governments and health organizations must continue to enforce policies that restrict cigarette advertisements, limit youth access to tobacco products, and implement graphic warning labels on cigarette packages to highlight the dangers of smoking.
